The building
This two-level structure was built in 1880 by architect Dulac and was meant to host Montceau boys public school, with 5 classrooms. Unlike the mining company school structures which were all built on a similar plan, the Maison d’école was built in freestone and decorated with bricks. The interior of the building complied with lighting and hygiene standards of the time. In 1988, the Maison d’école was listed in the Additional listing of historic monuments.
Exhibitions
Visit the details of recreated classrooms as they were at the end of the XIXth century and towards 1950.
