French Society of Civil Engineers

About 20% of references available (monographs, plans, articles series, etc) are in English. Half the number of periodicals are also in foreign languages, in English for the most part (from Great Britain and the U.S.A.), but also in German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian and Slavonic languages, with some in Swedish, Norwegian, and even Greek and Latin. About 100 of these references are bilingual or multilingual. These have often been acquired through donations, exchanges, especially for periodicals.

Library holdings cover more than 150 years of the history of techniques. Over 1,000 periodicals, over 50,000 volumes, plus photographies, plans, and books by some of the former presidents of the Société des ingénieurs civils de France : Gustave Eiffel, Anatole Mallet, Eugène Flachat.

Over 1,015 periodicals covering more than 200 years of scientific research. Some rare french and foreign periodicals. Over 50,000 volumes, monographs or collections of articles acquired by the Société between 1850 and 1978.

Photographs collection

Over 12,000 photos (black and white, and colour) available, with 4,000 in digital format. Photos are about the urban community area and include postcards, posters, archival documents, paintings, collector’s items, recent photos illustrating the evolution of local heritage (urban planning, landscape, industry, etc...)
